أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ قَالَكَتَبَ أَبِي وَكَتَبْتُ لَهُ إِلَى عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ وَهُوَ قَاضِي سِجِسْتَانَ أَنْ لَا تَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَنْتَ غَضْبَانُ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا يَحْكُمْ أَحَدٌ بَيْنَ اثْنَيْنِ وَهُوَ غَضْبَانُ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Qutaibah] ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Awanah] dari [Abdul Malik bin Umair] dari ['Abdurrahman bin Abu Bukair] ia berkata, " [Bapakku] menulis surat -dan aku yang menuliskan untuknya- kepada Ubaidullah bin Abu Bakrah, seorang hakim di Sijistan. Yang isinya; janganlah kamu memutuskan antara dua orang sementara kamu dalam keadaan marah, sesungguhnya aku mendengar Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Janganlah seseorang memberi putusan di antara dua orang sementara ia dalam keadaan marah."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
