حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ قَالَ قِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ كَانَ يَقُولُ أَوْ كَلْبَ زَرْعٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ لَهُ زَرْعٌقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Qutaibah] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Hammad bin Zaid] dari [Amru bin Dinar] dari [Ibnu Umar] berkata; "Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam memerintahkan untuk membunuh anjing kecuali anjing untuk berburu, atau anjing untuk menjaga ternak." Ia (perawi) berkata; Ibnu Umar pernah ditanya, [Abu Hurairah] pernah mengatakan; "atau anjing untuk menjaga tanaman", Ibnu Umar menjawab; "(karena) Abu Hurairah memiliki tanaman." Abu Isa berkata; "Hadits ini derajatnya hasan shahih."

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
