حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمُؤْمِنِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْكَانَ أَحَبَّ الثِّيَابِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقَمِيصُقَالَ و سَمِعْت مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْمَعِيلَ يَقُولُ حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَصَحُّ وَإِنَّمَا يُذْكَرُ فِيهِ أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ziyad bin Ayyub Al Baghdadi] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Tumailah] dari [Abdul Mukmin bin Khalid] dari [Abdullah bin Buraidah] dari [Ibunya] dari [Ummu Salamah] ia berkata, "Pakaian yang paling disukai oleh Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam adalah gamis." Abu Isa berkata, "Aku mendengar Muhammad bin Isma'il berkata, "Hadits Abdullah bin buraidah, dari ibunya, dari Ummu Salamah lebih shahih, hanya saja dalam hadits tersebut disebutkan 'dari Abu Tumailah, dari ibunya'."

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
