حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَكُونُ الْمُؤْمِنُ لَعَّانًاقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ وَرَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُؤْمِنِ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَعَّانًا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مُفَسِّرٌ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Basyar], telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Amir] dari [Katsir bin Zaid] dari [Salim] dari [Ibnu Umar] ia berkata, Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Tidak boleh seorang mukmin menjadi orang yang suka melaknat." Berkata Abu Isa: Hadits semakna juga diriwayatkan dari Abdullah bin Mas'ud dan ini merupakan hadits hasan gharib. Sebagian mereka meriwayatkan dengan sanad ini dari Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam dengan lafazh: "Tidak sepantasnya seorang mukmin itu menjadi orang yang suka melaknat." Dan hadits ini sebagai tafsir bagi hadits yang lain.

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
