حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍعَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْحُمَّى فَوْرٌ مِنْ النَّارِ فَأَبْرِدُوهَا بِالْمَاءِقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ وَامْرَأَةِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَعَائِشَةَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Hannad], telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Al Ahwash] dari [Sa'id bin Masruq] dari [Abayah bin Rifa'ah] dari kakeknya [Rafi' bin Khadij] dari Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, beliau bersabda: "Sesungguhnya penyakit demam itu merupakan luapan dari panasnya api neraka, karena itu redakanlah ia dengan air." Abu Isa berkata; Hadits semakna juga diriwayatkan dari Asma` binti Abu Bakar dan Ibnu Umar, Istri Zubair, Aisyah dan Ibnu Abbas.

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
