قَالَ مُجَاهِدٌوَسُئِلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ يَصُومُ النَّهَارَ وَيَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ لَا يَشْهَدُ جُمْعَةً وَلَا جَمَاعَةً قَالَ هُوَ فِي النَّارِقَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ هَنَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُحَارِبِيُّ عَنْ لَيْثٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ وَمَعْنَى الْحَدِيثِ أَنْ لَا يَشْهَدَ الْجَمَاعَةَ وَالْجُمُعَةَ رَغْبَةً عَنْهَا وَاسْتِخْفَافًا بِحَقِّهَا وَتَهَاوُنًا بِهَا
English Translation
[Mujahid] berkata; "[Ibnu Abbas] pernah ditanya tentang seorang laki-laki yang melaksanakan puasa di siang hari dan shalat di malam hari, namun ia tidak menghadiri shalat jum'at dan shalat berjama'ah di masjid?" ia menjawab, "Orang itu di neraka." Ia berkata; "Hal itu diceritakan kepada kami oleh [Hannad] berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Muharibi] dari [AL Laits] dari [Mujahid] ia berkata; "Makna hadits ini adalah tidak boleh menghadiri shalat jum'at dan shalat jama'ah dengan rasa benci, serta mengurangi dan meremehkan haknya."

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
