حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الرِّفَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنْ النَّارِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Hisyam ar Rifa'i] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Bakar bin 'Ayyasy] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Hasyim] dari [Zirr] dari [Abdullah bin Mas'ud] dia berkata; Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Barangsiapa yang berbohong kepadaku dengan sengaja maka hendaklah mempersiapkan tempat duduknya di neraka."

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
