حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ زُرْعَةَ بْنِ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ جَرْهَدٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ عَنْ جَدِّهِ جَرْهَدٍ قَالَمَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجَرْهَدٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَقَدْ انْكَشَفَ فَخِذُهُ فَقَال إِنَّ الْفَخِذَ عَوْرَةٌقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ مَا أَرَى إِسْنَادَهُ بِمُتَّصِلٍ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu Abu Umar] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Sufyan] dari [Abu An Nadlrah] bekas budak Umar bin 'Ubaidullah, dari [Zur'ah bin Muslim bin Jarhad Al Aslami] dari kakeknya yaitu [Jarhad] ia berkata; Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam melintasi Jarhad di masjid, sedangkan pahanya tersingkap, maka beliau bersabda: "Sesungguhnya paha itu aurat." Abu Isa berkata; Hadits ini hasan, menurutku sanadnya tidak bersambung.

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
