حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْوَرَّاقُ الْبَصْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَمَّرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الرَّقِّيُّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ صَالِحٍ الْمَكِّيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَعَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَحَبُّ الْأَسْمَاءِ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdurrahman bin Al Aswad Abu 'Amru Al Warraq Al Bashri] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Mu'ammar bin Sulaiman Ar Raqqi] dari [Ali bin Shalih Al Makki] dari [Abdullah bin Utsman] dari [Nafi'] dari [Ibnu Umar] dari Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, beliau bersabda: "Nama-nama yang paling disukai Allah 'azza wajalla adalah Abdullah dan Abdurrahman." Abu Isa berkata; Hadits ini hasan gharib melalui jalur ini.

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
