حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍفِي قَوْلِهِ{ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُنَادُونَكَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحُجُرَاتِ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ }قَالَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ حَمْدِي زَيْنٌ وَإِنَّ ذَمِّي شَيْنٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاكَ اللَّهُقَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Ammar Al Husain bin Huraits] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Fadll bin Musa] dari [Al Husain bin Waqid] dari [Abu Ishaq] dari [Al Bara` bin Azib] tentang fimranNya: "Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang memanggil kamu dari luar kamar(mu) kebanyakan mereka tidak mengerti." (Al Hujuraat: 4) Al Barra` berkata: Seseorang berdiri lalu berkata: Wahai Rasulullah, sesungguhnya pujianku adalah hiasan dan celaanku adalah aib. Nabi Shallallahu 'alaihi wa Salam bersabda: "Itu Allah." Abu Isa berkata: Hadits ini hasan gharib.

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
