حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَسَأَلَ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آيَةً فَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ بِمَكَّةَ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَنَزَلَتْ{ اقْتَرَبَتْ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ سِحْرٌ مُسْتَمِرٌّ }يَقُولُ ذَاهِبٌقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdu bin Humaid] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdur Razzaq] dari [Ma'mar] dari [Qatadah] dari [Anas], ia berkata; penduduk Mekkah meminta satu tanda kepada Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, kemudian bulan terbelah di Mekkah dua kali. Kemudian turunlah ayat: "Telah dekat datang hari kiamat dan telah terbelah bulan Dan jika mereka (orang-orang musyrikin) melihat suatu tanda (mukjizat), mereka berpaling dan berkata: "(Ini adalah) sihir yang terus menerus." (QS. Alqomar 1-2).

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
