حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍعَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الدُّعَاءُ مُخُّ الْعِبَادَةِقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ali bin Hujr] telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Al Walid bin Muslim] dari [Ibnu Lahi'ah] dari ['Ubaidullah bin Abu Ja'far] dari [Aban bin Shalih] dari [Anas bin Malik] dari Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam beliau bersabda: "Doa adalah inti ibadah." Abu Isa berkata; hadits ini adalah hadits gharib dari sisi ini, kami tidak mengetahuinya kecuali dari hadits Ibnu Luhai'ah.

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
