حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ وَأَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ عَنْ حَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ رِيَاحِ بْنِ عَبِيدَةَ قَالَ حَفْصٌ عَنْ ابْنِ أَخِي أَبِي سَعِيدٍ و قَالَ أَبُو خَالِدٍ عَنْ مَوْلًى لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَوْ شَرِبَ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مُسْلِمِينَ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Sa'id Al Asyaj] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Hafsh bin Ghiyats] dan [Abu Khalid Al Ahmar] dari [Hajjaj bin Arthah] dari [Riyah bin 'Abidah], -Hafsh berkata; dari [Ibnu Akhi Abu Sa'id]. Sedangkan Abu Khalid mengatakan; dari [mantan budak Abu Sa'id] dari [Abu Sa'id] radliallahu 'anhu-, ia berkata; Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam apabila makan atau minum beliau berdoa: "Al HAMDULILLAAHILLADZII ATH'AMANAA WA SAQAANAA WA JA'ALANAA MUSLIMIIN" (Segala puji bagi Allah Yang telah memberi makan dan minum kami, dan menjadikan kami orang-orang yang berserah diri).

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
