حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ سَلْمُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعِيدُ الْكَلِمَةَ ثَلَاثًا لِتُعْقَلَ عَنْهُقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ إِنَّمَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Yahya] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Qutaibah Salm bin Qutaibah] dari [Abdullah bin Al Mutsanna] dari [Tsumamah] dari [Anas bin Malik] dia berkata; Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam sering mengulang perkataannya hingga tiga kali agar dapat di pahami." Abu Isa berkata; "Hadits ini derajatnya hasan shahih gharib, kami hanya mengetahuinya dari hadits Abdullah bin Al Mutsanna."

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
