حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْرَقَتْنَا نِبَالُ ثَقِيفٍ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِ ثَقِيفًاقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ
Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Salamah Yahya bin Khalaf] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdul Wahab Ats Tsaqafi] dari [Abdullah bin Utsman bin Khutsaim] dari [Abu Az Zubair] dari [Jabir] dia berkata; mereka (para sahabat) berkata; "Wahai Rasulullah, panah-panah Bani Tsaqif telah menghancurkan kami, maka do'akanlah (kejelekan) untuk mereka." beliau bersabda: "Ya Allah, berilah berilah petunjuk kepada penduduk Tsaqif." Abu Isa berkata; "hadits ini adalah hadits hasan shahih gharib."

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
