حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ عَنْ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ الْفِهْرِيِّ قَالَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ دَلَكَ أَصَابِعَ رِجْلَيْهِ بِخِنْصَرِهِقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ
English Translation
telah menceritakan kepada kami [Qutaibah] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu Lahi'ah] dari [Yazid bin 'Amru] dari [Abu Abdurrahman Al Hubuli] dari [Al Mustaurid bin Syaddad Al Fihri] ia berkata; "Aku melihat Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam berwudlu, dan ternyata beliau menggosok jari-jari kakinya menggunakan jari kelingkingnya." Abu Isa berkata; "Hadits ini derajatnya hasan gharib, dan kami tidak mengetahuinya kecuali dari hadits Ibnu Lahi'ah."

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
