حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ وَهَنَّادٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا وُضُوءَ إِلَّا مِنْ صَوْتٍ أَوْ رِيحٍقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ
English Translation
telah menceritakan kepada kami [Qutaibah] dan [Hannad] mereka berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Waki'] dari [Syu'bah] dari [Suhail bin Abu Shalih] dari [Bapaknya] dari [Abu Hurairah] berkata; "Bahwasanya Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Tidak ada wudlu kecuali karena sebab suara atau bau." Abu Isa berkata; "Hadits ini derajatnya hasan shahih."

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
