حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ قَال سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَيْمُونٍ يُحَدِّثُ يَقُولُكُنَّا وُقُوفًا بِجَمْعٍ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِنَّ الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَانُوا لَا يُفِيضُونَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَالَفَهُمْ فَأَفَاضَ عُمَرُ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Mahmud bin Ghailan], telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Daud] berkata; Telah memberitakan kepada kami [Syu'bah] dari [Abu Ishaq] berkata; "Saya telah mendengar ['Amr bin Maimun] menceritakan: 'Ketika kami sedang wuquf di Jama', [Umar bin Khattab] berkata; "Kaum musyrikin tidak berangkat hingga terbit matahari. Mereka berkata; 'Tunggulah (sampai matahari terbit) darimu wahai gunung Tsabir'. Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam menyelisihi mereka'." maka 'Umar lalu berangkat sebelum terbit matahari." Abu 'Isa berkata; "Ini merupakan hadits hasan shahih."

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
