حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَمْرٍومَا يَكْتُبُوهُ قَالَ الْخُطْبَةَ الَّتِي سَمِعَهَا يَوْمَئِذٍ مِنْهُ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ali bin Sahl Ar Ramli] ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Walid] ia berkata, "Aku tanyakan kepada [Abu 'Amru], "Apa yang mereka tulis?" Ia menjawab, "Khutbah yang ia dengar dari Rasulullah pada hari itu."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
