حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ هِشَامٍ صَاحِبِ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ قَالَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ سَقْيُ الْمَاءِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ali bin Muhammad] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Waki'] dari [Hisyam pemilik Ad Dastuwa`i] dari [Qatadah] dari [Sa'id bin Al Musayyab] dari [Sa'd bin 'Ubadah] dia berkata, "Aku bertanya, "Wahai Rasulullah, sedekah apakah yang paling utama?" Beliau menjawab: "Memberi air."

Imam Ibn Majah compiled the last of the six major hadith collections (Kutub al-Sittah). He travelled widely to collect hadiths — through Iraq, Basra, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia. His collection contains unique narrations not found in the other five collections, though scholars note some weaker chains.
Ibn Majah's collection was later added to the Kutub al-Sittah by Imam al-Maqdisi. It contains approximately 4,341 hadiths including narrations unique to this collection.
