حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ ح و حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مَحْمُودُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا صَلَاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْتَرِئْ بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu ath-Thahir] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu Wahab] dari [Yunus] --lewat jalur periwayatan lain-- dan telah menceritakan kepada kami [Harmalah bin Yahya] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu Wahab] telah mengabarkan kepadaku [Yunus] dari [Ibnu Syihab] telah mengabarkan kepadaku [Mahmud bin ar-Rabi'] dari [Ubadah bin ash-Shamit] dia berkata, Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda, "Tidak sah shalat seseorang yang tidak membaca Ummul Qur'an."

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
