أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّفِي عَبْدَيْنِ مُتَفَاوِضَيْنِ كَاتَبَ أَحَدُهُمَا قَالَ جَائِزٌ إِذَا كَانَا مُتَفَاوِضَيْنِ يَقْضِي أَحَدُهُمَا عَنْ الْآخَرِ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Ali bin Hujr] telah memberitakan kepada kami [Ibnu Al Mubarak] dari [Yunus] dari [Az Zuhri] mengenai dua orang budak yang bersekutu dengan syarat-syarat tertentu, salah seorang dari mereka berjanji akan menebus salah seorang dari mereka. Az Zuhri berkata; "Boleh jika mereka berdua bersekutu salah seorang dari mereka menebus untuk yang lainnya."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
