أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَمِيلٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ عَنْ نُبَيْشَةَ قَالَذُكِرَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ كُنَّا نَعْتِرُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَالَ اذْبَحُوا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي أَيِّ شَهْرٍ مَا كَانَ وَبَرُّوا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَأَطْعِمُوا
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Al Mutsanna], ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu Abu Adi] dari [Ibnu 'Aun], ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Jamil] dari [Abu Al Malih] dari [Nubaisyah], ia berkata; disebutkan kepada Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam... ia berkata; kami menyembelih 'atirah pada masa jahiliyah. Beliau bersabda: "Sembelihlah untuk Allah 'azza wajalla pada bulan apa saja, berbuat baiklah kepada Allah dan berilah makan kepada orang lain."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
