أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَعَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيُخَفِّفْ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمْ السَّقِيمَ وَالضَّعِيفَ وَالْكَبِيرَ فَإِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ لِنَفْسِهِ فَلْيُطَوِّلْ مَا شَاءَ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Qutaibah] dari [Malik] dari [Abu Az Zinad] dari [Al A'raj] dari [Abu Hurairah] dari Nabi Shallallahu'alihiwasallam beliau bersabda: "Bila seorang dari kalian melakukan shalat bersama orang-orang (menjadi imam), maka ringankanlah. karena di kalangan mereka ada yang sakit, yang lemah, dan yang sudah tua. Tetapi jika salah seorang dari kalian shalat sendirian, maka ia boleh memperpanjang sekehendaknya.

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
