حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنْ الثَّمَرِ الْمُعَلَّقِ فَقَالَ مَنْ أَصَابَ مِنْهُ مِنْ ذِي حَاجَةٍ غَيْرَ مُتَّخِذٍ خُبْنَةً فَلَا شَيْءَ عَلَيْهِقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Qutaibah], telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Laits] dari [Ibnu 'Ajlan] dari [Amr bin Syu'aib] dari [ayahnya] dari [kakeknya] bahwa Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam pernah ditanya tentang buah kurma yang masih tergantung. Lalu beliau menjawab: "Bagi siapa saja yang terpaksa karena kebutuhan (untuk dimakan) bukan untuk disembunyikan di dalam bajunya, maka tidak apa-apa." Abu Isa berkata; Hadits ini hasan.

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
