حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَتَبَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ إِلَى كِسْرَى وَإِلَى قَيْصَرَ وَإِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ وَإِلَى كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَلَيْسَ بِالنَّجَاشِيِّ الَّذِي صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yusuf bin Hammad Al Bashri] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdul A'la] dari [Sa'id] dari [Qatadah] dari [Anas] bahwa sebelum wafatnya Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, beliau sempat menulis surat kepada Kisra (raja persi), Kaisar (raja Romawi), Najasyi dan kepada setiap penguasa diktator, beliau menyeru mereka (beriman) kepada Allah, bukankah raja Najasyi pernah di shalati oleh Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam?." Abu Isa berkata; Hadits ini hasan shahih gharib.

Imam at-Tirmidhi was a student of Imam al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud. His collection is distinctive for including the grading (hasan, sahih, da'if) of each hadith alongside notes on which madhab (legal school) relies on it — making it both a hadith collection and a work of hadith criticism.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi is the only collection in the Kutub al-Sittah where the compiler grades every hadith himself, notes scholarly differences, and indicates legal usage.
