حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَمُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَنَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمِيثَرَةِ الْحَمْرَاءِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Hafsh bin Umar] dan [Muslim bin Ibrahim] keduanya berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Syu'bah] dari [Abu Ishaq] dari [Hubairah] dari [Ali radliallahu 'anhu] ia berkata, "Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam melarangku memakai cincin emas, memakai kain yang bersulam sutera dan alas pelana yang berwarna merah."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
