أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبُو عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ أَبِي نَافِعٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا سَبَقَ إِلَّا فِي نَصْلٍ أَوْ خُفٍّ أَوْ حَافِرٍ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Sa'id bin 'Abdurrahman Abu 'Ubaidullah Al Makhzumi] berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Sufyan] dari [Ibnu Abu Dzi`b] dari [Nafi' bin Abu Nafi'] dari [Abu Hurairah], bahwa Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Tidak ada sabaq (hadiah dalam perlombaan) kecuali dalam lomba memanah, unta atau kuda."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
